Fluvial bedrock gorges as markers for Late-Quaternary tectonic and climatic forcing in the French Southwestern Alps

Abstract: <p>As one of the major erosive processes acting at Earth’s surface, fluvial incision is highly sensible to tectonic, isostatic and climatic variations. In order to better understand what is the timing and driving mechanism(s) for Late-Quaternary incision in the Southwestern Alps, we focused on bedrock gorges and measured in situ-produced 36Cl concentrations along several river-polished gorge walls in the external Southwestern French Alps.
