The article is devoted to researching and assessing the state of affairs, identifying problems and prospects for Russia’s presence in the markets of Central Asian countries. The relevance of the problem is connected with the goals of maintaining the export positions of the Russian Federation in this market and with the goals of increasing the volume of non-resource non-energy exports. The authors investigated the dynamics and structure of world and Russian exports to the countries of Central Asia, highlighted the dominant commodity groups of Russian exports for each importing country. As a result of the study of the territorial aspect and the related specifics of trade and economic relations, it was concluded that a deeper study of export opportunities and prospects of Russian regions bordering on countries-importers of Russian products in Central Asia was made. The article outlines the problems of increasing competition in the markets of Central Asia and the negative impact on the prospects of Russian exports of falling incomes of the population and reducing market capacity due to the pandemic, the need to take a set of measures to maintain Russia’s competitive position in this market. As a result the studies of the problems of the development of Russian exports the authors came to the conclusion that it is mutually beneficial and promising, to increase the supply Russian products to the countries of Central Asia the need to find ways to increase its efficiency, and strengthen state support for non-resource non-energy exports.

The article is devoted to assessing and identifying the problems of mutual influence of export activities and the image of the region, manifested through the influence of the image of the region on the prospects for the development of export activities and export activities on the image of the region. The relevance of the problem is connected with the need to strengthen the export positions of the Altai Territory in order to ensure the growth of its image in foreign markets. The authors have studied and evaluated the dynamics and structure of exports as a factor that has a significant impact on the image of the Altai Territory, identified possible areas of activity to improve its image in foreign markets, which, in turn, can positively affect the intensification of export activities. The growth of exports of Altai Krai products to foreign markets, the increase in its competitiveness, as well as the constantly changing market conditions update the study of the components of the image of the exporting region, require monitoring of the factors that determine it, taking into account the changing preferences of importers. As a result of theoretical studies of the problems of the image of the region, export activity, supported by analytical calculations of the dynamics and structure of exports of the main commodity groups of products of the Altai Territory in 2016-2020, the authors came to the conclusion that exports on the image of the region and the image on the prospects for the development of exports, the need to search ways to improve the effectiveness of mutual influence, based on the unique characteristics of the region.

The Russian exports of processed food products analysis since 2014 has revealed a stable growth in this area, corresponding to the general dynamics of domestic agricultural products sales in the world market. At the same time, the share of processed food products in the total volume of domestic exports from 2014 to 2021 increased from 1.7 to 3.1%, which is a favorable factor in reducing the mineral-raw materials orientation of Russia’s foreign trade. The increase in processed products exports contributes to the export-oriented nature of the domestic food industry, which grew from 6.5 to 11.6 % over the period. This is also due to the fact that import substitution programs development and competitive imports limitation after the counter-sanctions introduction in 2014-2015 had a favorable impact on the food industry and allowed to maintain and increase a number of export directions. Over the past few years, the key areas of sales in the global market have been the products of the oil and fat and sugar beet industries. Along with the sale of finished products, the food industry wastes export, which are raw materials for fodder production, is also considered important. With the overall positive dynamics of processed food sales, the only direction showing a decrease in exports is tobacco and tobacco products. The reduction in tobacco products exports is explained by the change in the transnational corporations policy who own the Russian cigarette business, which, in addition to the Russian market, until 2014 also partially filled the markets of the Commonwealth of Indepen dent States and Eastern Europe countries.
