Formulation, characterization, in vitro, in vivo, and histopathological evaluation of transdermal drug delivery containing norfloxacin and Curcuma longa

Abstract: Objective:In an attempt for better treatment of bacterial infections and burn wounds, semisolid formulations containing norfloxacin (NF) and natural wound healing agent Curcuma longa were prepared. The rationale behind employing combination of NF and Curcuma longa is to obtain synergistic wound healing effect. The prepared formulations were compared with silver sulfadiazine cream 1%, USP.Materials and Methods:Various ointments containing NF and C. longa were prepared using standard procedures. These formulatio… Show more

“…Furthermore, good spreadability of F13 formula compared to F1 and F11 can be a probable cause for better killing activity since spreadability directly affects therapeutic efficacy of the drug. The present results were consistent with previously reported work done by Dua et al [54]. They found that Carbopol (C934) gel-based formulations exhibited better antibacterial activity against P. aeruginosa , S. aureus , and E. coli in comparison to other dermatological base formulations, indicating better activity of the drug.…”

“…In this research, we discovered that the wogonin therapy group had considerably reduced lipid peroxides, greater GSH, and enhanced antioxidant enzyme activity such as SOD and CAT that could decrease or stop ROS from forming. Therefore, our findings stated that the suppression of the pathological state of arthritis by antioxidant could be one mechanism of Wogonin in CFA rats …”

“…Therefore, our findings stated that the suppression of the pathological state of arthritis by antioxidant could be one mechanism of Wogonin in CFA rats. [39][40][41][42] Several investigations disclosed that inflammatory processes played a significant part in RA pathogenesis. An amount of cytokines were demonstrated, such as IL-1β, IL-10, and TNF-α during inflammatory procedures guided the mechanisms.…”

“…The condition of hyperinsulinemia may lead to an increase in the level of Hcy as well as elevate blood pressure through various mechanisms. On the contrary, factors like dietary habits also contribute to insulin resistance . In summary, metabolic disturbances and long‐term hyperhomocysteinemia together with vascular remodeling suggested that enhanced oxidative stress, endothelium dysfunction, and decreased PPAR γ expression in the vessel wall could be underlying mechanisms for hyperhomocysteinemia‐associated hypertension .…”
