“…Recently, this kind of organic ligand, 4,5-dicarboxy-imidazole (H 3 IDC), which has six potential donor atoms: two imidazole nitrogens and four carboxylate oxygen atoms, and can remove one to three hydrogen atoms forming H 3-n IDC n-(n D 1, 2, or 3) species, has attracted much attention. [4][5][6] Consequently, the derivatives of H 3 IDC still have caught people's eyes, for instance, 2-methyl-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid (MH 3 IDC), 2-ethyl-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid (EH 3 IDC), and so on, which have been used to build up beautiful MOFs as 1D chains and ladders, 2D grids, 3D networks, and helical staircase networks under appropriate conditions.
