Four Collaborations with Rūsiņš Freivalds

Abstract

Abstract. Rūsiņš Mārtiņš Freivalds (1942Freivalds ( -2016 was one of European pioneers of theoretical computer science, making important contributions to the theory of probabilistic algorithms and other fields of theoretical computer science. He was also my first research supervisor at the University of Latvia and influenced my research career quite substantially. In this article, I describe some of my research experiences working together with him, from the first exercises in his undergraduate seminar to how we started working on quantum computing.
