Free flaps in reconstruction for head and neck cancer

Abstract: Head and neck reconstructive surgery is a very important part of the multidisciplinary approach to patients with HNSCC. Use of free flaps constitutes a very important advance since the 1980s for surgical patients, especially in terms of functional outcomes and quality of life. Numerous free flaps are now available to repair any type of loss of substance: tegumentary, bone, muscular. Their reliability is reported as over 90% in international published surveys.
