Frequentist Approach for Detecting Heterogeneity in Meta-Analysis Pair-Wise Comparisons: Enhanced Q-Test Use By Using I2 and H2 Statistics

Abstract: selected for the development of mapping algorithms. The linear regression model had best model fit. However, the SEM that incorporated item level data for ordinal responses to each instrument showed better predictive performance, especially at the lower end of the EQ-5D distribution. ConClusions: This study demonstrates the flexibility of SEMs for the development of mapping algorithms. The models developed showed comparable predictive performance to existing models in the published literature.

“…The percent of total variance due to study heterogeneity was estimated using the I squared (I 2 ) statistic. Heterogeneity across treatment types was assessed using the between-group Q statistic [ 27 ]. Publication bias was evaluated using Egger’s test [ 28 ].…”

“…Heterogeneity among studies was assessed through Q statistic and I 2 statistic [ 30 ], where Q approximately obeys a χ 2 distribution with k − 1 degrees of freedom, while k is the number of studies. Specially, P value can be employed to test the significance level of heterogeneity; I 2 = [ Q − (k − 1)]/ Q 100%, varying from 0 to 100%.…”

“…HR and 95% CI were recorded to assess the strong connection between different PLR levels and CRC prognosis. The heterogeneity of included studies was analyzed and evaluated by combining the Cochrane Q test and I 2 test ( 36 ). A P -value <0.1 for Q statistic test or I 2 > 50% was considered to be significantly heterogeneous.…”
