From Chronic Pain to Function: A Case Report of Successful Surgical Management of Chronic Osteomyelitis of Jaw.

Abstract

Osteomyelitis is a bone inflammation that starts as a medullary cavity infection, spreads quickly to the haversian system and periosteum. Can develop in the jaws due to chronic odontogenic infection, trauma, inadequate treatment of fracture, or jaw irradiation. Untreated acute osteomyelitis can become chronic. Diagnosis involves conventional radiography, culture, bone biopsy, radioisotope bone scan, laser doppler flowmetry, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. we want to highlight various steps involved in diagnosis & management of chronic suppurative osteomyelitis.
