Abstract: Introduction: Hip fractures are one of the most common indications for hospitalization and orthopedic intervention. Fragility hip fractures are frequently associated with multiple comorbidities and thus may benefit from a structured multidisciplinary approach for treatment. The purpose of this article was to retrospectively analyze patient outcomes after the implementation of a multidisciplinary hip fracture pathway at a level I trauma center. “…190 studies underwent full-text review, and 69 studies were selected for final analysis (Figure and eAppendix 3 in the Supplement). Among the final 69 improvement programs, 49 programs significantly decreased TTS and 20 programs did not. Delayed TTS cutoffs were most often defined dichotomously as more than 24 hours, more than 36 hours, more than 48 hours, or more than 72 hours, although some studies collected continuous data.…”

“…8,9 Use of multidisciplinary orthogeriatric fracture teams in the management of elderly patients with hip fracture have demonstrated decreased inappropriate medication administration, improved outcomes, and decreased cost. [16][17][18] Patients with geriatric hip fracture with prolonged length of stay and delayed early functional recovery are more likely to experience declines in ambulatory status and ability to perform activities of daily living. 19 Active participation with physical and occupational therapy after hip fracture surgery is important in functional recovery.…”
