From Innovation to Implementation: The Evolution of HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and Future Implications

Abstract: Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a highly effective HIV-prevention strategy that involves the continuous administration of antiretroviral drugs to HIV-negative individuals with a substantial risk of contracting an HIV infection. The use of PrEP has shown a reduction in the risk of HIV acquisition through sexual intercourse by up to 99%.
