FROM PIONS TO PROTON DECAY: Tales of the Unexpected

Abstract: ■ Abstract This account recalls early observations of elementary particles from cosmic ray experiments, using the nuclear emulsion technique. Discoveries in this field in the 1940s and 50s led to the development of high energy particle accelerators and associated detectors, resulting eventually in the observation of the quark and lepton constituents of matter and of the fundamental interactions between them, as described in the Standard Model. The concept of unification of the fundamental interactions led to t… Show more

“…Weinberg 44 predicted the consequences of the proton decay to the cosmological science, and the 'electromagnetic showers ... generated from the decay of neutral pions ... in the nuclear interactions of primary protons' in Perkins 45 's CERN neutrino experiments corroborates with the observational induction. Apart from the muon line of thermonuclear chemical instability in the W-asymmetry in white hole thermonuclear astrochemical stability being corroborated by the laboratory literature 45 , the results from figure 8 corroborates with the 'perturbative quantum chromodynamics could be expected to apply' description by Perkins 45 .…”

“…Since the 1920s some physicists have experimented with nuclear emulsions (Perkins, 2005); however, the efficiency of such method has not been proven, mainly due to emulsion sensitivity problems in recording various types of particles, especially the fastest moving.…”
