Abstract:Abstract-The macrocycle 4-tert-butylcalix [8]arene (L) was reacted with alkali metal carbonates (Li 2 CO 3 , Na 2 CO 3 , K 2 CO 3 , Rb 2 CO 3 , and Cs 2 CO 3 ) at the interface of a biphasic THF/water system. Needle-like crystals with a general formula [A x (4-tert-butylcalix[8]arenexH)(THF) y (H 2 O) z ] (with A¼Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, x¼1, 2, y¼4, 5, 8, and z¼6, 7) were thereby obtained.
