“…The #FreetheNipple campaign in Iceland is explored by Rúdólfsdóttir and Jóhannsdóttir (2018, this issue) through an analysis of digital public media. The revolution against patriarchy here takes the form of “freeing” the nipple from its pornographic associations and women posting photos of their own breasts (mainly by younger feminists).…”

“…Síðustu ár hafa ungar konur, meðal annars á Íslandi, tekið sér rými í samfélagslegri umraeðu og beitt sér í málefnum sem tengjast kvenlíkamanum (Annadís G. Rúdólfsdóttir og Ásta Jóhannsdóttir, 2018). Samtök um líkamsvirðingu hafa átt sér öf luga málsvara (sjá til daemis Sigrún Daníelsdóttir, 2016;Margrét Helga Erlingsdóttir, 2019) og hafa það að markmiði að "stuðla að virðingu fyrir fjölbreytileika holdafars, jákvaeðri líkamsmynd og heilsuef lingu óháð holdafari" (Elva Björk Ágústsdóttir, 2018).…”

Má hér greina áfram femíniskar hugmyndir í frásögn þátttakanda og á það sér sterkan samhljóm með greiningum um femíniska orðraeðu meðal ungra kvenna á Íslandi (Annadís G. Rúdólfsdóttir og Ásta Jóhannsdóttir, 2018). Einnig eru hér margar tilvísanir í málf lutning líkamsvirðingarhreyfingarinnar sem hér eru settar í valdef landi samhengi (Sastre, 2014;Tiidenberg og Gómez Cruz, 2015).…”

“…In recent years, feminist initiatives have been vibrant in Iceland, especially among young women. Online and offline activism, for example #freethenipple, has garnered many participants and gained much attention in mainstream media (Rúdólfsdóttir & Jóhannsdóttir, 2018). The battle against sexist discourse and rape culture is ongoing and can be seen, for example, in the rap scene, where a large group of radical young women started the rap group Reykjavíkurdætur (Daughters of Reykjavík), using their lyrics to defy patriarchy, slut-shaming, and body policing.…”
