Full parameter scan of the Zee model: exploring Higgs lepton flavor violation

Abstract: We study the general Zee model, which includes an extra Higgs scalar doublet and a new singly-charged scalar singlet. Neutrino masses are generated at one-loop level, and in order to describe leptonic mixing, both the Standard Model and the extra Higgs scalar doublets need to couple to leptons (in a type-III two-Higgs doublet model), which necessarily generates large lepton flavor violating signals, also in Higgs decays. Imposing all relevant phenomenological constraints and performing a full numerical scan of… Show more

“…Finally, using Eqs. (11)- (13) we obtain the predictions of three neutrino mixing angles θ 12 , θ 23 and θ 13 and three mass eigenvalues m i . Clearly, the prediction for these neutrino observables depends on the choice of the charge assignment of the global U (1) symmetry, because it determines the structure of matricesỸ 1,2 andF , see Appendix A.…”

“…The extension of the Zee model with the Type-III Yukawa interaction can actually explain current neutrino data, see e.g., [13]. However, the quark sector should also be expected to have flavor violating Yukawa interactions as these are generally allowed by the symmetry.…”

“…Therefore, the Zee model leads to correlations between the leptonic mixing angles and the h → τ µ and h → τ e rates. These can be used to set a lower limit on the HLFV rates [83]. For instance, one finds BR(h → τ µ) 10 −6 10 −7 (39) for normal (inverted) neutrino mass ordering.…”
