Full‐scale, near real‐time multi‐regional input–output table for the global emerging economies (EMERGING)

Abstract: Multi‐regional input–output (MRIO) models are widely used to analyze the economic interdependencies between regions in the context of global trade and environmental research. MRIO tables enable us to teleconnect the sectors in different regions along the supply chain and track both direct and indirect impacts of global production. Yet emerging economies—despite reshaping international trade patterns and playing an increasingly important role in the world economy—are not adequately represented in existing MRIO … Show more

“…31 In comparison to other Global MRIO databases, OECD-ICIOT provides the most recent 1995–2018 time series data and uses a sector classification that closely matches the United Nations’ definition of the ICT sector. 32 The country-specific sectoral emission inventory of 44 regions and 56 sectors for 2000–2016 is publicly available by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. 33 The emission inventory has been updated to 2018 using the IEA and OECD’s emission database and harmonized with the OECD-ICIOT database for 44 regions (including 43 major countries/regions and the RoW) and 42 sectors.…”

“…Here, we use the full-scale, near real-time multi-regional input-output model for the global set of emerging economies (EMERGING MRIO) 19 , which covers global 245 economies, 135 economic sectors (105 commodity sectors, and 30 service sectors) and is the latest updated to 2019. We aim to assess the additional CO 2 emissions that would arise in all emerging economies globally (Supplementary Fig.…”
