Functional and Transcriptomic Characterization of a Dye-decolorizing Fungus from Taxus Rhizosphere

Abstract: A b s t r a c tWe isolated three laccase-producing fungus strains from Taxus rhizosphere. Myrotheium verrucaria strain DJTU-sh7 had the highest laccase activity of 216.2 U/ml, which was increased to above 300 U/ml after optimization. DJTU-sh7 had the best decolorizing effect for three classes of reactive dyes. The DJTU-sh7-containing fungal consortium displayed the robust decolorizing ability. Both color removal efficiency and chemical oxygen demand were increased in the consortium mediated biotransformation. … Show more

“…To the authors' best knowledge, there have been no reports on these activities from P. antarcticum. T. stollii was previously reported to produce laccase activity [51], while no other polyphenol oxidase/peroxidase activities have so far been recorded for this species.…”

“…The development of advanced sequencing technology allows the investigation of molecular mechanisms involved in the detoxi cation and adaptation of microbial strains to environmental pollutant exposure [34][35][36] . For example, transcriptomic analysis using differentially expressed genes (DEGs) has been used to examine the gene responses to various environmental stimuli, particularly for the elucidation of genes involved in degradation [37][38][39] . Transcriptome sequencing can provide strong support for identifying genes involved in pollutant degradation by microorganisms 40 .…”
