Further developments of a multi-phase transport model for relativistic nuclear collisions

Abstract: A multi-phase transport (AMPT) model was constructed as a self-contained kinetic theory-based description of relativistic nuclear collisions as it contains four main components: the fluctuating initial condition, a parton cascade, hadronization, and a hadron cascade. Here, we review the main developments after the first public release of the AMPT source code in 2004 and the corresponding publication that described the physics details of the model at that time. We also discuss possible directions for future dev… Show more

“…In this work, we use a multiphase transport model (AMPT) [43,46] to perform calculation in most central collision systems. The AMPT model consists of four main components, which describe the four main processes in heavy ion collisions.…”

“…There are two versions of AMPT: one for a string melting mechanism, in which a partonic phase is generated from excited strings in the HIJING model, and a simple quark coalescence model is used to combine the partons into hadrons; the other for the default AMPT version which only undergoes a pure hadron gas phase. AMPT model has been widely used in heavy ion collision at RHIC and LHC [43,46,[51][52][53][54] and the detailed introduction can be found therein. In the present work, we use the string-melting version AMPT.…”

“…Afterwords we choose the case of t max,h = 100 f m/c for the following calculations. We would mention that the AMPT model has been successfully used to simulate physics in heavyion collisions at the RHIC and LHC energies [36,49,50] and the detailed parameter configurations can be found therein.…”

“…In this study, a multiphase transport (AMPT) model [31][32][33] was adopted to simulate Au + Au collisions at √ s N N = 7.7, 11.5, 14.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, and 200 GeV. Energy dependence of C V was obtained by the above introduced method and compared with results extracted through the same temperature fluctuation method by the Hadron Matter (HM) [28], Hadron Matter via Quark Gluon Matter [28], Quark Gluon Matter (QGM) [28], Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) models as well as data of the STAR Collaboration [29,34].…”
