Fuzzy-TOPSIS Based Optimal Handover Decision-making Algorithm for Fifth-generation of Mobile Communications System

Abstract: With the increasing demand for higher bandwidth and data rate of the mobile user. There are massive base stations (BS) will be deployed in the future wireless environment. Several issues could be raised dues to dense deployment of BSs, i.e. handover (HO) ping-pong effect, unnecessary HO and frequent HO. To avoid these effects, the handover decision-making strategies become extremely important to select the optimal BS among all detected BS and ensure QoS for each mobile user. In this paper, the author develops … Show more

“…e handover decision based in [23], a multicriteria approach is introduced based on the Euclidean distance for decisionmaking that checks for all possible ideal solutions. In these approaches, the fuzzy logic was used to calculate the metric values for handover decision making, further, the TOPSIS [24] method ranked the cell weight. However, due to the complexity of the hybrid approach, the delay increases, leading to a higher link failure.…”

“…In 2019, Liu et al [20] proposed a fuzzy-TOPSIS-based HO algorithm to reduce the ping-pong effect and number of HOs. The proposed algorithm leveraged the benefits of fuzzy logic and TOPSIS and utilized the received signal-strength intensity (RSSI) and signalto-noise ratio (SNR) as the HO criteria.…”

“…In mobility management, FLC is used to adjust and adapt the HCP (TTT and HOM) values to provide an automatic HO process. The existing works, for example, in [15,18,20,21], applied FLC in their algorithms for HO in mobile systems and show that FLCs are very useful for automatic HO parameter optimization.…”
