Subsequently, a small population of bipolar cells were found to be immunoreactive (IR) for glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) in mudpuppy (Yazulla, 1986) and Rana frog (Agardh, 1987a;Tyler et al, 1995), and GABA-IR was found in bipolar cells in mudpuppy (Mosinger et al, 1986), Bufo toad (Gá briel et al, 1992), Rana frog (Mosinger et al, 1986;Osborne et al, 1986;Agardh et al, 1987a), and Xenopus frog (Zhu and Straznicky, 1993).
