This paper deals with the stabilization and the H 2 control synthesis of Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) descriptor systems. The compensator design problem is examined through a parameter-dependent observer-based control structure. The proposed approach uses parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions and involves slack variables in order to achieve less restrictive synthesis conditions. These synthesis conditions are expressed as a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) solvability problem. The admissibility and the H 2 performance are ensured by computing appropriate gains of the state-feedback controller and the observer. Simulation results obtained with a numerical example, show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Starting with the baseline controller design, this paper proposes an integrated approach of active fault tolerant control based on proportional derivative extended state observer (PDESO) for linear parameter varying descriptor systems. The PDESO can simultaneously provide the estimates of the system states, sensor faults, and actuator faults. The L 2 robust performance of the closed-loop system to bounded exogenous disturbance and bounded uncertainty is achieved by a two-step design procedure adapted from the traditional observerbased controller design. Furthermore, an LMI pole-placement region and the L 2 robustness performance are combined into a multiobjective formulation by suitably combing the appropriate LMI descriptions. A parameter-varying system example is given to illustrate the design procedure and the validity of the proposed integrated design approach.

This paper proposes a gain scheduling linear quadratic integral (LQI) servo controller design, which is derived from linear quadratic regulator (LQR) optimal control, for non-singular linear parameter varying (LPV) descriptor systems. It is assumed that state space matrices are non-singular since many mechanical systems do not have any non-singular matrices such as the natural state space forms of robotic manipulator, pendulum and suspension systems. A controller design is difficult for the systems due to rational LPV case. Therefore, the proposed gain scheduling controller is designed without the difficulty. Accordingly, the motion control design is implemented for two-link flexible joint robotic manipulator. Finally, the control system simulation is performed to prove the applicability and performance.
