“…Safe walking and fear of falling are important issues for a majority of patients with lower-limb amputations [45][46]. Because of the loss of the knee joint, patients with TFA need strategies to maintain balance and to overcome limitations in function of the prosthesis [31][32]. A safe and secure gait and confidence in walking can partly be achieved by training and adequate prosthetic fit and suspension.…”

“…In patients with transfemoral amputation (TFA), testing sensation in terms of vibration seems to be one natural choice since vibration is one type of stimuli the patient hypothetically can experience when the prosthetic foot strikes the ground. At heel strike, the prosthetic knee joint should be in an extended position to make it safe to move the nondisabled limb forward [31][32][33]. Improved ability to detect vibration at heel strike could therefore mean safer walking for this group of patients.…”

“…The study was focused on neuro-rehabilitation, quantifying the efficacy of Neuromuscular Taping as a treatment method combined with physical therapy rehabilitation as a means of reducing pain symptoms in post amputation of lower limb subjects. Amputation of lower limb causes a series of changes and concomitant adjustments which are related not only to the mutilated limb but also to the entire body [13][14][15][16]. Phantom pain senNeuro Muscular Taping (NMT) is a biomechanical therapy method using decompressive and compressive stimuli to obtain positive effects in the musculoskeletal, vascular, lymphatic and neurological systems.…”

“…Despite the current technological advances in prosthetics, lower limb amputees still suffer from noticeable gait asymmetry [9][10][11] and high metabolic energy costs [12] in comparison to healthy subjects. This gait asymmetry pattern occurs due to the inertia asymmetry between the intact and the prosthetic leg [13] and other factors.…”
