Abstract:Bronchopulmonary dysplasia, a common complication of prematurity, is characterized by inadequate alveolarization. The process of alveolarization, by which the lung forms mature gas-exchanging units, is not well understood. In mice, alveolarizaion occurs during postnatal days four through twelve, when the formation of secondary septa creates thin walled alveoli. The purpose of this study was to investigate the genes involved in this process. RNA was isolated from dissected tips of secondary septa and whole lung… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
