Gas Hydrates as High-Efficiency Storage System: Perspectives and Potentialities

Abstract: The growing economic efforts and investment for the production of green hydrogen make the definition of new competitive and environmentally friendly storage methods. This article deals with the proposal of gas hydrate production with binary or ternary H2-based gaseous mixtures for hydrogen storage. In the text, the physical and chemical elements necessary to confirm the technical feasibility of the process are given. The proposed solution is also compared with the traditional ones in terms of energy costs, ene… Show more

“…Different approaches have been suggested to address greenhouse gases and their associated problems, ranging from partial to complete solutions [8]. For example, technology of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) has the capability to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide or CO 2 emissions from fixed sources [9]. According to the International Energy Agency, CCUS is expected to play a significant role in achieving a 19% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2070, effectively eliminating 6.9 Gt CO 2 annually [10].…”
