“…In order to evaluate the effects of the coating area of the annular reactor on the performance of photocatalytic degradation of ethylbenzene, TiO 2 catalyst was coated on the quartz tube with the photocatalytic coating area varied from 0% to 100% by Saldanha et al It was found that optimum performance was achieved when the coating area percentage was about 70%, which was attributed to a synergistic effect between solid phase and gas phase reactions in the reactor. A similar result was reported by Ribeiro’s group, who also studied the influence of coating area on photocatalytic degradation of toluene in the presence of ozone. The highest activity for toluene degradation was achieved with 90% of the reactor area coated with TiO 2 .…”
