Gender Role Ideology

Abstract: Gender roles (essentially culturally defined) refer to the set of behaviors performed differentially (and considered appropriate by the society) by men and women at home, at work, and in other public and private spheres in the context of a specific culture. Gender role ideology adds the element of valuation, the opinion about which roles men and women should hold.
