Gene expression in mouse spermatogenesis during ontogenesis

Abstract: In this study, we evaluated the expression of genes probably involved in spermatogenesis in the mouse. We examined cytosolic chaperonin theta subunit (CCTı), Ngg1 interacting factor 3 like 1 binding protein 1 (NIF3L1 BP1) and apolipoprotein H (ApoH) expression during mouse ontogeny using RT-PCR. Testicular tissue was obtained from mice 3, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 20 and 40 (adult) days after birth. For each mouse, one testis was used for histological examination, whereas RNA was extracted from the controlateral t… Show more

“…The cervix and uterus responded strongly to the mating treatment, which caused a plethora of genes to down-regulate (Cervix: CD209 , related to lectin-receptors in phagosomes [55]; UBASH3B , related to cell membrane stability, control of cholesterol turnover [56]; Uterus: UBASH3B , APOH [57], GPX5/GPX8 , coding for antioxidant enzymes related to membrane preservation, [58]) and FAP , related to the JAK-STAT pathway controlling cytokine function [59]). Mating was also able to down-regulate both TNFSF11 and ADGRB2 in the UTJ and ampulla segments, suggesting a down-regulation of cytokine actions [52] that might promote the development of a tolerance towards spermatozoa in the oviduct.…”

“…The CCT complex is a key mediator of protein folding in the context of spermatogenesis (Giuffrida et al, 2006;Souès et al, 2003;Zhu et al, 2006). In planarians, all eight CCT complex subunits have been shown to be critical for normal sperm development, and the relative levels of these proteins have the potential to influence the spermatogenic process (Counts, Hester & Rouhana, 2017).…”

“…3B and Supplementary Table 3 ). The expression levels of apolipoprotein H ( Apoh ), which is expressed in adult testes and is suggested to be involved in apoptosis [ 42 ], were approximately 100-fold higher in Asz1 –/– mouse gonocytes than in WT mice ( Fig. 3B and 3C ).…”
