Abstract:We describe the general considerations that go into the design of an asymmetric B factory collider. Justification is given for the typical parameters of such a facility, and the physics and technology challenges that arise from these parameter choices are discussed. Cost and schedule issues for a B factory me discussed briefly. A summary of existing proposals is presented, noting their similarities and differences.
