General conchology, or, A description of shells arranged according to the Linnean system ...

Abstract: When shells are to be removed from place to place, they must be very carefully packed, or they will most certainly be injured in their passage. The best direction for this purpose, is to wrap each in a piece of silver paper, and lay them in a box, though not so close as to touch. Each layer of shells is then to be covered, completely, with a layer of bran, and this may be repeated till the box is filled.
