Adolescence is a critical stage where individuals are vulnerable to engaging in delinquent behaviors due to the ongoing development of their brain. In this stage, peer presences are believed to influence and to pressure adolescents to commit delinquent acts. Juvenile delinquency is a pressing social issue that not only affects the well-being and mortality of adolescents but also imposes a substantial economic burden on society. This study aims to expand public knowledge by examining adolescents' perceptions of juvenile delinquency and exploring the ways in which peer influence and peer pressure affect delinquent behavior. Although peer influences and peer pressures are often viewed similarly, they impact adolescents' involvement in delinquent activity in different ways. To meet the objectives of this study, a qualitative case study was conducted on five male adolescents in Sekolah Tunas Bakti, Kuala Lumpur. The findings indicate that peer influence has a stronger influence on juvenile delinquency compared to peer pressure. The study also highlights several ways in which peer influence and peer pressure contribute to juvenile delinquency, albeit with some contradictory findings. Additionally, some adolescents reported experiencing both peer influence and peer pressure simultaneously. The implications of these findings are discussed in the context of developing effective interventions and prevention strategies for reducing juvenile delinquency.

<p>Sebagian remaja rentan terpengaruh oleh tekanan teman sebaya yang mengarahkan mereka untuk menujukkan konformitas terhadap perilaku kelompok. Hal ini dapat menjadi cikal bakal terlibatnya remaja dalam perilaku kenakalan seperti merokok, menggunakan narkoba, seks bebas, tawuran, pencurian, dan tindakan melanggar norma lainnya. Dalam masa pandemi COVID-19, tekanan untuk melanggar aturan seperti mengikuti ajakan untuk berkumpul, pergi ke keramaian, dan menyalahgunakan waktu sekolah dapat muncul. Hal ini perlu dicegah agar remaja tidak terkena risiko yang membahayakan keselamatan dirinya. Salah satunya dengan program intervensi berkelompok untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menolak secara asertif pada remaja yang rentan mengalami tekanan teman sebaya. Program dirancang secara daring agar dapat menjangkau partisipan yang membutuhkan dan menjaga kesehatan serta keselamatan diri. Hasilnya para partisipan merasakan manfaat yang positif, namun hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan program belum cukup efektif meningkatkan kemampuan menolak secara asertif namun terbukti efektif meningkatkan kecederungan berperilaku asertif pada partisipan.</p><p> </p>

This study aims to determine the conformity of adolescents in SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Galur and SMP Muhammadiyah Al Manar Boarding School and to analyze the differences there. This research is survey research using a quantitative approach with a comparative study method. The population in this study was 171 students, while the sample size was 120 students. The data analysis technique used the Mann Withney test to see the results of differences in adolescent conformity. The final results of this study indicated that (1) the level of conformity of the students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Galur was medium; (2) the conformity level of the students of SMP Muhammadiyah Al Manar Boarding School was medium and high; (3) there was no significant difference regarding the level of adolescent conformity between students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Galur and students of SMP Muhammadiyah Al Manar Boarding School as evidenced by the results of the Mann Withney test with the Sig. 0.129 0.05.
