Computational intelligence techniques for HVAC systems: A review

Buildings are responsible for 40% of global energy use and contribute towards 30% of the total CO 2 emissions. The drive to reduce energy use and associated greenhouse gas emissions from buildings has acted as a catalyst in the development of advanced computational methods for energy efficient design, management and control of buildings and systems. Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems are the major source of energy consumption in buildings and ideal candidates for substantial reductions in energy demand. Significant advances have been made in the past decades on the application of computational intelligence (CI) techniques for HVAC design, control, management, optimization, and fault detection and diagnosis. This article presents a comprehensive and critical review on the theory and applications of CI techniques for prediction, optimization, control and diagnosis of HVAC systems. The analysis of trends reveals that the minimisation of energy consumption was the key optimization objective in the reviewed research, closely followed by the optimization of thermal comfort, indoor air quality and occupant preferences.Hardcoded Matlab program was the most widely used simulation tool, followed by TRNSYS, EnergyPlus, DOE-2, HVACSim+ and ESP-r. Metaheuristic algorithms were the preferred CI method for solving HVAC related problems and in particular genetic algorithms were applied in most of the studies. Despite the low number of studies focussing on multi-agent systems (MAS), as compared to the other CI techniques, interest in the technique is increasing due to their ability of dividing and conquering an HVAC optimization problem with enhanced overall performance. The paper also identifies prospective future advancements and research directions.

Vision has long been a quality and characteristic defining leadership. To cultivate vision among undergraduate students in a course, the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals are utilized as a foundation to inspire a vision that connects local service and personal interests to global, complex issues. Students select a goal to work with for various projects throughout their courses in a program, culminating with the selection of a goal to build a vision around for future contribution as leaders in our world. Student feedback indicated a positive impact of the SDGs on the awareness of global issues and the active role each can play at the local level for progress to continue moving forward.

В статье рассматривается роль духовных факторов в продуктивной жизнедеятельности семьи. Особое внимание уделено описанию конструкта «духовные способности». Анализируется влияние духовно-нравственного аспекта ценностных ориентаций и мотивации на удовлетворенность браком, успешность семейной жизни. Показано, что семейному благополучию способствуют: духовно-нравственные мотивы вступления в брак, духовные ценностные ориентации, имеющие отношение к осознанию жизненных смыслов, самосовершенствованию, альтруизму. Отмечено важное значение для продуктивной жизнедеятельности семьи духовных способностей и лежащей в их основе духовной направленности личности. Приводятся подробные характеристики таких духовных способностей, как моральные, рефлексивные, саморегулятивные, творческие, которые автор относит к категории высших. Эти способности позволяют заложить прочный моральный фундамент для семейных отношений и успешного воспитания детей, создают возможность творческого развития, проявления мудрости и духовного самосовершенствования. Подчеркивается, что здоровая, счастливая семья благодаря духовным способностям может выступать как результат продуктивной жизнедеятельности ее членов, направленной на поддержание и развитие семьи. Кроме того, продуктивная жизнедеятельность семьи может выражаться в благоприятствовании успешности и продуктивности ее членов на поприще учебной, профессиональной и прочей деятельности. При этом в обоих случаях духовные способности могут служить гарантом благополучия и продуктивной жизнедеятельности семьи.Ключевые слова: духовно-нравственный фактор, семейное благополучие, продуктивная жизнедеятельность семьи, ценности, успешная, здоровая семья, духовные способности, духовная направленность ВведениеДуховные аспекты жизнедеятельности семьи представляют собой актуальное и недостаточно исследованное направление в психологической науке.
