Generation of V-point polarization singularity using single phase encoding with a spatial light modulator

Abstract: A liquid crystal Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) can be used in various ways to produce vector-vortices. Superposition of scalar vortices with orthogonal polarization is a common approach, while a more recent technique is to use dual-phase modulation. These approaches require modulation of at least two phase patterns with a SLM or multiple SLMs. In this paper, we propose a novel technique to produce vector-vortices by modulating orthogonal light components through a single phase pattern with a SLM. It does not r… Show more

“…The intensity of the laser beam passes through this liquid crystal display modulated by the computer-generated hologram. Thus, by projecting holograms of LG, HG, and BBs on SLM, we can transform the conventional Gaussian beam from the laser cavity to LG, HG, and BBs respectively [64][65][66][67][68][69][70].…”

“…Controlling the coherent photons of light and focusing at the target location inside or through the turbid media stained with fluorophore can be achieved by wavefront shaping. [4][5][6][7][8][9] Using conventional fluorophore excitation light sources and focusing light with phase modulation is a challenging task due to random variation in refractive index, scattering of light, and formation of local speckle noise field. In our current work, we have controlled the digital transfer of the optical coherence field to the target location inside a biological chicken tissue with spatio-temporal precision by enabling the coherent coupling of the photons using wavefront shaping.…”

“…The generation of vector vortex modes can be classified into two different schemes. One approach is to use external polarization elements, such as a Q-plate and a spatial light modulator 4 . The direct generation of vector vortex modes from a laser cavity with additional intra-cavity devices, in which the laser system operates at desired vector vortex mode as an eigen mode 5 , is alternative, and it allows the development of a compact and cost-saving vector vortex system with high mode purity.…”
