Genetic analysis and selection of short harvest period in F2 population of mungbean

Abstract: The short harvest period is one of the major focuses of mungbean breeding programs. Improvement of harvesting period can be reached by recombination among the best parents. The objectives of this research were to study performance, genetic inheritances, identified and to select of transgression segregants for short harvest period in F2 (Lombok x No.129) population. This research was conducted in Leuwikopo-IPB Farm, Bogor, Indonesia, from March to July 2019. The genetic materials were F2 (538 plants), Lombok/P1… Show more

“…The obvious reason for this could be that seed yield per plant has been dependent on the number of clusters per plant, pods per cluster, pods per plant, pod length and seeds per pod alternatively. Similar findings were also reported by Karkute and Girase [11] Karkute et al [15] Marwiyah et al [16] Reddy et al…”

“…The internode length was observed as the mean of the 6 th , 10 th , and 15 th internode (Tanzi et al 2019b), while the harvest period was recorded between the first and the last harvest time of pods. The harvest period was then classified according to Marwiyah et al (2020) as below.…”

“…This type of growth leads to continuous flower formation throughout its life cycle. For seed production, synchronous harvest is one of the most important criteria because asynchronous harvest can improve production input and post-harvest cost (Marwiyah et al 2020). On the other hand, asynchronous harvest is needed for pod production varieties due to continuous market demand for the fresh vegetable.…”

“…Pemuliaan tanaman untuk memperpendek waktu panen kacang hijau dapat dilakukan dengan cara menyerempakkan waktu berbunga atau waktu masak polong atau disebut periode panen pendek (Marwiyah et al, 2020). Periode panen pendek atau pembungaan serempak ditandai dengan hasil yang lebih tinggi, atau jumlah polong yang lebih banyak dalam satu kali panen sejak munculnya bunga pertama hingga 90% polong masak (Marwiyah et al, 2021a).…”
