Siam orange (Citrus nobilis L.) provides great economic value and social importance, despite its susceptibility to Huanglongbing (HLB) disease caused by Ca. Liberabacter sp., classified as specific bacterium phloem vessels marked by the formation of callouses covering plasmodesmata. This research aims to improve the tolerance of Siam orange from Banyuwangi (SB) to HLB disease. The experiment was undertaken by performing a randomized design (CRD) with one factor (irradiation dose). This study consists of two interrelated experiments, which include: induction of embryo mutations with gamma rays irradiation, and in vitro selection of putative mutant. The embryo of SB was irradiated by gamma rays with doses of 0, 45, 50, and 55 Gray. Each treatment was repeatedly undertaken for five times with 20 embryos. After 24 weeks, in vitro selection of putative mutant shoots was screened by HLB pathogen suspension. The observation indicated that treatment of gamma rays in various doses influenced embryo germination. In general, gamma ray irradiation gave significant effects on embryo germination and plant morphological characters. In vitro selection results for putative mutant on doses of 45, 50, and 55 indicated tolerance to HLB pathogen after selection.

Tanaman nilam merupakan tanaman penghasil minyak atsiri dengan nilai ekonomi tertinggi dibandingkan tanaman penghasil minyak atsiri lainnya. Keragaman genetik tanaman nilam tergolong rendah, karena di Indonesia baru terdapat lima klon unggul, dan keterbatasan ini menyebabkan pilihan varietas untuk budidaya juga terbatas. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan upaya untuk menghasilkan klon unggul baru yang memenuhi standar nasional. Penelitian ini menguji sembilan genotipe unggul nilam hasil mutasi pada dataran rendah. Tujuan utama penelitian untuk mendapatkan kestabilan hasil, variabilitas yang luas, mengetahui korelasi tiap parameter, dan kedekatan kelas sepuluh genotipe nilam. Penelitian menggunakan bahan tanam sembilan klon tanaman nilam hasil koleksi dan satu varietas nilam yang telah rilis di Indonesia sebagai pembanding, yaitu Lhoksemauwe. Perlakuan disusun dalam Rancangan Kelompok Teracak Sempurna dengan tiga ulangan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada hampir seluruh parameter pengamatan kecuali pada parameter diameter batang. Genotipe yang digunakan sudah menunjukkan kestabilan hasil pada lokasi Rajabasa Lampung Selatan. Variabilitas pada hampir seluruh parameter menunjukkan kriteria luas kecuali pada parameter turgiditas sel dan rendemen minyak. Korelasi positif yang signifikan terjadi antara beberapa parameter pengamatan. Kelas yang terbentuk sebanyak empat kelas dan yang memiliki kedekatan lebih dari 90% ada tiga kelas.

The study aims to determine the price fluctuations and their effects on patchouli farm and patchouli oil production in Aceh Province. The Research Method used survey method with an explanatory research as an approach. The location of the study was conducted in Aceh Province, in Aceh Jaya Regency and Aceh Barat Regency. The fluctuations of patchouli oil price have an affect to the motivation of farmers in developing patchouli farming. Farmers in the study location tend to do patchouli farming when the price of patchouli oil is high, instead farmers do not do patchouli farming when the price of patchouli oil decreases. The fluctuations in patchouli oil prices determined by the quality of patchouli oil and market demand have a dominant influence on the development of production and the productivity of patchouli in Aceh. Standardization of patchouli oil quality at the agro-industry level will increase the price of patchouli oil at the farmers level and increase farmers' income. The price of patchouli oil fluctuates depends on Patchouli Alcohol (PA) levels. This is the main reason for traders at the district and provincial levels to reduce prices at the farm level. Aceh Patchouli has oil quality that qualified with basic export standards. But there is still a need for cultivation techniques and better application of refining technology to improve the quality of patchouli oil at the farmer level so that it can increase the price of patchouli oil at the farmer level while simultaneously increasing the income and welfare of farmers. The phenomenon of patchouli oil price fluctuations in high has an important role in the development of patchouli oil agro-industry.
