Genetic Diversity Analysis between Different Varieties of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) Using SSR Markers

Abstract: The paper aims at evaluating genetic diversity among genomes of chickpea comprising of 5 different varieties with the help of simple sequence repeats (SSR) molecular markers. Genomic DNA isolated from all varieties was checked with 15 different SSR markers specific for ENDPOINT PCR using PCR based techniques. Amplification bands with different markers enabled identification of the genomic regions responsible for Drought Tolerance in chickpea. All 15 SSR markers chosen gave monomorphic bands.  A hierarchical tr… Show more

“…The bands are recorded as present or absent based on particular sizes. ISSR markers are highly polymorphic and characterized as dominant markers ( Yadav et al., 2019 ). However, to expand their usefulness, ISSRs can also be transformed into co-dominant markers such as Sequence Characterized Amplified Regions.…”

“…Among them, Fusarium wilt caused by deuteromycetes fungal pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceris (FOC) is one of the widely disbursed diseases of chickpea [4] and cause yield loss up to the level of 100% depending on varietal susceptibility and climatic conditions [5,6]. Developing wilt-resistant chickpea varieties necessitates labour and money intensive field level phenotyping of numerous germplasm and breeding lines against pathogen races.…”

“…cicerі -C. arietinum» шляхом комплементарного добору макро-і мікросимбіонтів [6][7][8][9]. Зважаючи на активну селекцію нових сортів нуту, яка проводиться в Україні та за кордоном [14][15][16], актуальним є вивчення їхньої здатності відкликатися на інокуляцію ефективними штамами ризобій.…”
