The performance of agronomic traits, genetic variability, and correlation studies for yield and its components in some red rice (Oryza sativa) promising lines. Biodiversitas 22: 3994-4001. Improving a new variety commonly depends on the nature and magnitude of genetic variability and its utilization, followed by selection and evaluation before being released into new superior types. The present study aims to estimate the genetic variability and relation between yield and its related traits of the red rice promising lines. The experiment was arranged based on a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among rice lines for 12 quantitative traits. The phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) value was higher than the genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV), indicating a negligible environmental influence in the phenotypic expression of traits. High heritability estimates coupled with high genetic advance were recorded for grain total per panicle and grain yield per hill. Grain yield observed a highly significant positive correlation with panicle length (0.63), percentage of filled grains (0.53), grain weight per panicle (0.54), and thousand-grain weight (0.52). It correlated negatively with days to 50% flowering (-0.61) and days to maturity (-0.48). The study indicated that panicle length, percentage of filled grains, grain weight per panicle, and thousand-grain weight are important yield-related traits and could be used for selection to improve the genetic potential of rice yield.

A field experiment was conducted once at Isabela State University, Jones, Isabela, Philippines during the wet season of 2018 to determine the impact of seaweed extract added with varying levels of inorganic fertilizer on the growth and yield of upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars. In the study, five fertilizer levels and a farmer’s practice as a control combined with seaweed extract was used. The study used Randomized Blocks in a Factorial Scheme with six treatments replicated thrice as follows: Factor A: V1-Pinilisa, V2-Palawan and Factor B: F1-150-100 kg NP ha-1 (Farmer’s Practice), F2-40-10 kg NP ha-1 (100% Recommended Rate), F3-20-5 kg NP ha-1 (50% Recommended Rate), F4-40-10 kg NP ha-1 + 3 L/ha. Seaweed extract, F5-20-5 kg NP ha-1 + 3 L/ha. Seaweed extract and F6-3L/ha. Seaweed Extract. The findings revealed that seaweed extract combined with inorganic fertilizer application influenced the growth and yield of rice. Pinilisa cultivar obtained a higher yield compared to the Palawan cultivar. The combination of seaweed extract and inorganic fertilizer shows highly significant differences especially concerning the number of productive tillers, filled grains, 1000 grain weight and straw weight. The return on investment showed that Pinilisa cultivar fertilized with 3 L seaweed extract is more economical in upland rice obtaining the highest with 95.47%. Seaweed extract as foliar fertilizer can be applied not only in rice but also in other crops. Application of seaweed extract on rice can reduce the amount of fertilizers.

Padi gogo lokal Wakawondu merupakan padi asal Buton Utara yang berpotensi dikembangkan secara luas karena memiliki aroma khas “harum”, jumlah anakan yang banyak dan antioksidan tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh pupuk organik dan anorganik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil padi gogo Wakawondu yang diberi rizobakteri pada sistem budidaya berbeda. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan penelitian Kelurahan Kambu Kecamatan Kambu Kota Kendari Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara dan berlangsung mulai bulan Juni sampai Januari 2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) disusun dalam Split Plot yang terdiri dari Petak Utama: Sistem Budidaya (S) terbagi 2 taraf: Gogo (S1) dan Gogo Rancah (S2); Anak Petak: Pupuk (P) terbagi 4 taraf : Tanpa pupuk (P0); 100% pupuk organik Bokashi kirinyuh: 10 t.ha-1 (P1); 100 % pupuk anorganik: Urea 200 kg.ha-1 , SP- 36 100 kg.ha-1 dan KCl 100 kg.ha-1 (P2); dan kombinasi 50 % pupuk organik dan 50% pupuk anorganik: Bokashi kirinyuh 5 t.ha-1 dan Urea 100 kg.ha-1 , SP-36 50 kg.ha-1 dan KCl 50 kg.ha-1 (P3) sehingga diperoleh 8 kombinasi perlakuan, setiap unit percobaan diulang 3 kali sebagai kelompok sehingga terdapat 24 petak percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi sistem gogo rancah dan pemberian 100% pupuk anorganik dapat meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan produktif dan panjang malai. Budidaya padi gogo lokal Wakawondu secara gogo rancah menggunakan pupuk anorganik menunjukkan hasil yang baik dibandingkan sistem budidaya gogo.
