Genotypic, physiological and biochemical features of Desulfovibrio strains in a sulfidogenic microbial community isolated from the soil of ferrosphere

Abstract: The purpose of this work was the isolation of the predominant representatives of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) of the sulfidogenic microbial community separated from the soil ferrosphere and the examination of their morphological, physiological, biochemical and genotypic peculiarities, the evaluation of some physiological processes under co-culturing with their satellite species Anaerotignum propionicum. During the study two isolates of sulfate-reducing bacteria NUChC SRB1 and NUChC SRB2 were obtained from s… Show more

“…The grounding material at a location with a high salt concentration has a lower potential, and the potential of the grounding material at a location with a low salt concentration is higher, which will constitute a galvanic corrosion cell, and the grounding material with low potential will act as anode to accelerate corrosion [ 56 , 57 ]. If the soil contains organic acids or sulfides, the macro cell corrosion can also occur due to changes of soil properties [ 12 , 32 , 33 , 58 , 59 ].…”

“…The samples of central and outer cell layers were picked up with tooth sticks and frozen at -20°C before processing. Genomic DNA isolation and amplification with primers to short nucleotide repeats ((GA)9C; (AC)8C; (AG)8) were carried out as described in [3]. RNA was isolated with Trizol reagent, RT-qPCR was performed on qTower 2.2 thermal cycler (Analytik Jena AG, Germany).…”

“…Five-day pure cultures of A. propionicum NUChC Sat1, D. oryzae NUChC SRB1 and D. oryzae NUChC SRB2 isolated from the sulfidogenic microbial community of soil ferrosphere were used for the research [4][5]. The nucleotide sequences were deposited in the GenBank with accession numbers MG924854.1, MT102713.1 and MT102714.1 respectively.…”

“…Among the microorganisms isolated from the plastic surface, there are representatives of sulfate-reducing bacteria [2]. Previously, anaerobic bacteria were identified as participants in the damage of the metal construction in the soil: organic acid-producing bacteria Anaerotignum propionicum [4] and sulfate-reducing bacteria Desulfovibrio oryzae [5], whose ability to form a biofilm on the surface of PET has not been studied.…”
