Geographic information systems (GIS) spatial data compilation of geodynamic, tectonic, metallogenic, mineral deposit, and geophysical maps and associated descriptive data for northeast Asia

Abstract: The purpose of this publication is to provide a high-quality spatial data compilation (Geographical Information System or GIS) of geodynamic, mineral deposit, and metallogenic belt maps, and descriptive data for Northeast Asia for customers and users. This area consists of Eastern Siberia, Russian Far East, Mongolia, northern China, South Korea, and Japan. The GIS compilation contains integrated spatial data for: (1) a geodynamics map at a scale of 1:5,000,000; (2) a mineral deposit location map; (3) metalloge… Show more

“…3.1), which likely reflect exhumation. However, that metamorphism did not affect the Derba passive margin located in front of the accreted island arc (Turkina et al, 2007), which implies that the passive margin was probably not Neoproterozoic as previously thought (Naumova et al, 2006) but certainly Cambrian, having formed by the opening of the Altai-Sayan back-arc basin. A volcanic island arc source reported in the Derba metasediments (Dimitrivea et al 2006in Turkina et al 2007) likely reflects the weathering of the accreted arc.…”

“…Vendian to Middle Cambrian ophiolites, back-arc basins and island arcs were identified in the Kizir-Kazir area (Altai-Sayan back-arc basin, Telesk and North Sayan zones on Fig. 2) (Naumova et al 2006). The Altai-Sayan back-arc basin opened in the Late Cambrian.…”

“…Two broad types of publications have been produced by this collaboration. One type is a series of regional geologic, mineral deposit, and metallogenic belt maps and companion descriptions for the region (Greninger et al, 1999;Obolenskiy et al, 2003aObolenskiy et al, , b, 2004Parfenov et al, 2003Parfenov et al, , 2004aNokleberg et al, 1994Nokleberg et al, , 1997aNokleberg et al, , b, c, 1998Nokleberg et al, , 2004and Naumova et al, 2006). The other type is a suite of metallogenic and tectonic analyses of these same regions (Nokleberg et al, 2000(Nokleberg et al, , 2005Rodionov et al, 2004).…”
