“…Zecharias and Brutsaert [] noted that watershed characteristics such as basin slope, defined as the inclination angle of the impermeable layer underlying a hillslope, and drainage density explained greater variability in K b as compared to other watershed characteristics such as aquifer area percentages ( α % ) and spatially heterogeneous properties such as hydraulic conductivity ( k ) and aquifer porosity ( f ). Farvolden [] identified a similar geologic and geomorphologic dependence to K b which was found to vary with stream channel depth and drainage density while being inversely proportional to basin relief ratios, a nondimensional ratio developed by Schumm [] which provides information concerning the steepness of a basin. Farvolden [] also identified a weak correlation between K b and the aridity ratio for arid watersheds.…”

“…The physical and climate characteristics of the basins used to derive mathematical expressions for low fl ow should be similar to the ungauged basin of interest. Farvolden (1963) notes that given similar climate there are differences in geology, topography, land use and vegetation within basins that are responsible for differences in basin hydrology. These differences between basins must be identifi ed and assigned mathematical values as predictor variables to be useful for regression analysis.…”

“…The relationship between various morphometric parameters and the abovementioned factors are well recognized by various geomorphologists (Rich, 1916;Wenthworth, 1930;Horton, 1932;Strahler, 1952;Taylor & Schwarz, 1952;Potter, 1957;Schumm, 1956;Chorley, 1957;Hack, 1957;Melton, 1958;Farvolden, 1963 Surkan, 1967;Faniran, 1968;Mueller, 1968;Black, 1972;Moore & Thornes, 1976;Patton & Baker, 1976;Pareta, 2004). They have documented that relations are very significant between hydrological characteristics, geological and geomorphic characteristics of river basin system.…”
