GHK‐Cu‐liposomes accelerate scald wound healing in mice by promoting cell proliferation and angiogenesis

Abstract: Glycyl-l-histidyl-l-lysine (GHK)-Cu is considered to be an activator of tissue remodeling, and has been used in cosmetic products. In this study, we prepared liposomes encapsulating GHK-Cu and analyzed their effect on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) proliferation and scald wound healing in mice. The nanoscaled GHK-Cu-liposomes promoted HUVECs proliferation, with a 33.1% increased rate. Flow cytometry analysis showed increased cell number at G1 stage and decreased cell number at G2 stage after G… Show more

“…To test the bioactivity and in vivo bone regenerative capacity of the hydrogels, experiments were conducted on a standard sinus rabbit model following established protocols 65. The four hydrogel materials were tested with untreated animals serving as negative controls and animals treated with the commercial product Bio‐Oss (Geistlich Ltd., Switzerland) as positive controls.…”

“…The peptide Gly–His–Lys (GHK) is a native constituent of human blood [ 1 ]. It has numerous actions, including wound-healing [ 2 ], anti-inflammatory [ 3 ], and anti-anxiety [ 4 ] activities which may result from the interaction with unidentified receptors. Importantly, GHK modulates the expression of many genes [ 5 ].…”

“…Since in the inammation stage of wound healing, the degradative enzymes release such as matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs) and serine proteases are up-regulated, 20,21 we hypothesized that the hydrogel would be degraded to release glutamic acid and lysine, which was believed to enhance the angiogenesis and increase collagen deposition. 9,22,23 To verify our hypothesis, the wounded skin samples of the early stage (day 7) were collected and their expression of cluster of differentiation 31 protein (CD-31) and asmooth muscle actin (a-SMA) were detected by immunouorescence to study the regeneration degree of blood vessels. As shown in Fig.…”
