Giga Passive Optical Network GPON over Fiber To The Home FTTH: Design, Implementation and Evaluation

Abstract

Fiber To Home FTTH Access Network based on Giga Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology is one techniques that meet application performances requirements(high speed access networks, high bandwidth, Voice Over Internet Protocol “VOIP ,high speed internet). Actually, Telecom. Operators use FTTH networks based on GPON thanks to its flexibility in manipulation of extended technologies. GPON is intended to provide transmission speeds better than or equivalent to 1.2 Gbit/s. It deals with 2.44 Gbps downstream and 1.24Gbps upstream data transmission. GPON is fundamental to support innovative and well-known services being discussed for residential subscribers and business customers owing to broadband capacity.
