Abstract:CD4 T cells are critical for control of persistent infections; however, the key signals that regulate CD4 T help during infection remain incompletely defined. Here we show that during lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) clone 13 infection, glucocorticoid-induced TNFR (GITR)-deficient mice exhibit defective CTL responses and viral control. Differences in CTL responses and viral control between GITR+/+ and GITR-/- mice were lost when CD4 T cells were depleted. Furthermore, mixed bone marrow chimeric mice a… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
