Abstract:During development, cell fates are determined through a combination of intracellular transcriptional regulations and extracellular signaling. As a result, spatial patterns of different cell types arise. We investigate the decision between epiblast and primitive endoderm cells in the inner cell mass of the preimplantation mouse embryo. Our computational model uses global cell signaling for the pattern formation. By varying the signal dispersion, cell type arrangements ranging from a checkerboard to an engulfing… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
