Global epidemiology and molecular biology of Taenia multiceps: a comparative meta-analysis and in silico analysis study

Abstract: In the present study, all published data on the epidemiology and molecular characters of Taenia multiceps were systematically collected from relevant databases (e.g. PubMed, Scopus, National Center for Biotechnology Information), and combined in various statistical and genetic analyses as a contribution to a better understanding of the epidemiology of this ubiquitous taeniid worldwide. While 5.8% of the key hosts (dogs) from various countries had T. multiceps, grey wolves displayed the highest prevalence (21.6… Show more

“…Coenurosis (Gid) (Sturdy) is a zoonotic neurological disease (Abera et al., 2016; Deplazes et al., 2019). This disease is one of the concerns of the small ruminants breeding industry (Abbas et al., 2022; Abera et al., 2016). The cause of this disease is Coenurus cerebralis , the larval stage of the Multiceps multiceps ( Taenia multiceps ) tapeworm (Miran et al., 2015; Scala et al., 2007).…”
