Global longitudinal strain predicts clinical disease progression in stable asymptomatic heart failure patients better than left ventricular ejection fraction
Abstract:Background
Previous studies have shown that left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) is a feasible and reliable predictor for outcomes in heart failure (HF) patients with greater accuracy than LV ejection fraction (LVEF). However, these studies rarely included stable or asymptomatic patients.
Purpose
To assess the predictive value of GLS, as compared to LVEF, in asymptomatic stable HF patients.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
