“…NDM-5 carbapenemase was primarily detected in E. coli and remains relatively rare in other members of the Enterobacteriaceae family, such as NTS and Klebsiella pneumoniae. 34,35 However, our study reveals the emergence of a Salmonella strain, designated as A132, harboring the NDM-5 carbapenemase gene. A132 belongs to the serovar London, which recognized as one of the top five prevalent serovars responsible for human salmonellosis in China.…”

“…The major plasmid types carrying bla NDM-5 from reference NCBI database included IncX3 (29.68%), IncFII (15.41%), IncFIB (12.79%), and IncC (9.59%) [ 27 ]. The bla NDM gene previously reported to be carried by Salmonella appears on the IncX3 ( bla NDM-5 ), IncA/C ( bla NDM-1 ), IncFII ( bla NDM-5 ), IncFIB ( bla NDM-5 ), and IncI1 ( bla NDM-13 ) plasmids, and chromosome ( bla NDM-9 and bla NDM-1 ) [ 28 ]; particularly, the IncX3 and IncA/C plasmids are the most prevalent. However, IncI1-Iα plasmid carrying bla NDM-5 has not appeared in Salmonella , only a Salmonella Rissen ST469 harboring IncI1 plasmid carrying bla NDM-13 [ 29 ] .…”

“…Sequencing was conducted using the long-read Oxford Nanopore MinION (Nanopore, Oxford, UK) and Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platforms (Illumina, Inc., San Diego, CA, United States). The resulting reads were assembled using Unicycler v.0.4.8 software ( Wu et al, 2023 ). The BacWGSTdb 2.0 server was employed for multi-locus sequence typing (MLST) and identification of antimicrobial resistance genes ( Feng et al, 2021 ).…”
