“…6,17,18 Patients were eligible for the trial if they had New York Heart Association class II to IV heart failure, were aged 18 to 80 years, and had LV ejection fraction (EF) Ͻ45%, LV end-diastolic dimension Ͼ6 cm, and 6-minute walk distance Ͻ450 m. Patients were enrolled into the mitral valve surgery stratum (nϭ193) if they required mitral valve surgery because of severe MR (grade Ն3ϩ). They were randomly assigned to mitral valve surgery plus CSD or mitral valve surgery alone.…”

“…CorCap CSD implant techniques have been described previously. 18 The key of implantation was to obtain a conformal fit with the CSD evenly distributed around the heart without any folds and with an even "tent" test in which the CSD is lifted off the heart with a forceps and then returns to a smooth fit within 1 to 2 heartbeats. Care was taken to make sure that the LV end-diastolic dimension was not reduced by Ͼ10% compared with baseline.…”

“…The authors also concluded that the wrap material did not promote any significant limitation on ventricular filling. Available evidence generally agrees with this assertion [28][29][30]. In more recent times, the CorCap TM CSD, a polyester passive constraining device (CorCap TM Cardiac Support Device, Acorn Cardiovascular, Inc.) has been evaluated as a treatment for heart failure in animal and clinical studies.…”

“…[29,30] Atlas stitch is the basic structure and the material is multi-filamentous yarn to provide high-strength and fatigueresistant characteristics, while maintaining flexibility. [31] The fabric with warp-knitted atlas stitch is glossy and it is easy to slide on the surface of heart to provide acute wall support.…”
