Gold nanoparticles chemisorbed by a terphenyldithiol self-assembled monolayer for fabrication of a protein biosensor

Abstract: In this study, improved detection of bovine serum albumin (BSA) was achieved by use of a fabricated surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor. Terphenyldithiol (TPDT) was self-assembled on a gold substrate, then gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) were chemisorbed on to the TPDT monolayer by strong bonding with the terminal thiol groups of the TPDT.
