Abstract:Nanoparticles provide key tools for bridging the gap between “bottom‐up” synthetic methods and “top‐down” fabrication. In this article, we describe recent progress in the recognition‐mediated assembly of metal nanoparticles using small molecules and polymers. A significant portion of the article focuses on the interaction of nanoparticles with biological moieties such as peptides and proteins, and the use of nanoparticles as drug and gene carriers for application in biomedical applications.
