Gold Nanowire Fabrication with Surface‐Attached Lipid Nanotube Templates

Abstract: A high-throughput approach to fabricate gold nanowires on surfaces with a lipid nanotube template is demonstrated. Streptavidin-coated gold nanoparticles are attached to the biotin-tagged lipid nanotubes. After the chemical fixation, the samples are dried and treated with oxygen plasma to remove the organic template and connect the particles. The created nanowires are characterized by cryo-transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and electrical measurements.

“…The reference sensor was composed of gold electrodes coated with PLL-g-PEG, where PEG is often used as a passivation layer. 15 Streptavidin does not specifically adsorb on PLL-g-PEG; therefore, this reference sensor measures only the nonspecific binding. Impedance detection of avidin with biotin-coated electrodes has previously been reported, which yielded the limit of detection in a nanomolar range (≈100 ng/ml) under clean buffer solution, 16 where the impedance spectroscopy was used instead of overtime For the demonstration of impedance biosensing, we monitored the current over time while applying 10 mV AC voltage at a fixed frequency at the open circuit potential (V offset = V OCP ) during the injection of analytes.…”

“…171 Microarrays were then formed, studying the colocalized detection of red fluorescent vesicles on biorecognition areas, determined by the patterned green fluorescent SAv. The controlled anchoring of vesicles was investigated for promising applications in high-throughput analysis for label-free and selective recognition/amplification processes, 278 as well as the possibility of delivering micro and nanocompartmentalized environments, for example, as a reservoir for growing nanotubes 279 or hosting nanoreactors with internalized enzymes. 280 In further studies, either a spotting technique 281 or a crossed microfluidic device in concert with MAPL patterning 282 was used to create selected arrays of anchored vesicles.…”
