Gordonia mangrovi sp. nov., a novel actinobacterium isolated from mangrove soil in Hainan

Abstract: A novel actinobacterium, designated strain HNM0687T, was isolated from mangrove soil samples collected from Hainan Province, PR China and its polyphasic taxonomy was studied. Based on the results of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain HNM0687T was closely related to Gordonia bronchialis NBRC 16047T (98.7 %), Gordonia rhizosphera NBRC… Show more

“…The only quinone in strain GW1C4-4 T was MK-9 (H 2 ), which was also the predominant quinone in most of the species in the genus Gordonia. Compared to strain GW1C4-4 T , the two reference type strains also contained other kinds of quinone such as MK-7 (H 2 ) and MK-8 (H 2 ) [15]. For the analysis of cellular fatty acids profiles, the cell biomass of strain GW1C4-4 T and reference strains G. bronchialis DSM 43247 T and G. mangrovi HNM0687 T were collected by cultivating on MB plates at 28 °C for 48 h. Cellular fatty acids were determined through the protocol of Sherlock Microbial Identification System (midi) version 6.0B.…”

“…S6). In comparison, the polar lipids of G. mangrovi HNM0687 T were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylinositol [15], and the polar lipids of G. bronchialis DSM 43247 T were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylinositol mannosides [2]. The respiratory quinone was analysed by high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry [49].…”

“…There is also evidence that they have the potential to produce bioactive and antimicrobial agents [20]. Gordonia species are widely distributed in natural habitats [19,21,22] and are associated with diverse invertebrates and vertebrates from marine and terrestrial sources [14,19]. They have also been implicated as opportunistic pathogens of humans [1,23,24].…”
